J. M. Waller Associates, Inc. Owners Win 2010 Small Business Person of the Year Award

(Washington D.C.) The ownership of J. M. Waller Associates, Inc. (JMWA®) were awarded the 2010 District of Columbia Small Business Person of the Year Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) at the 2010 National Small Business Week conference on May 25, 2010.

Awarded to the nation’s top entrepreneurs by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Small Business Person of the Year Award is reserved for outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners who make a special impact to the nation’s economy through the leadership of their organization. JMWA President and Chairman of the Board Charles W. Scott, RA, RID, PMP, REM, CFM, Chief Financial Officer James W. Emery, Jr., Chief Operating Officer Wendell Newton and retired owner Howard Warren received the award based on their company’s staying power in the marketplace, exceptional growth and business development, innovativeness of services offered, response to business adversity and penchant for giving back to our communities.

JMWA continues to grow its business by providing innovative and technically unique service offerings in the environmental, facilities and logistics fields including Aircraft Weapons Systems Sustaining Engineering, Nationwide Asset Management Evaluations, Medical Facility Commissioning, Construction Management and Environmental Program Support and Management. JMWA received high marks for the national disaster assistance provided to the Federal Aviation Administration during Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike, promoting the expansion of the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Initiative, and increasing the company’s employees by 160 percent and revenue by more than $11 million from 2006-2009.

During this time period, JMWA completed multiple Department of Defense (DoD) projects including Major mission realignments for the Army and Air Force, engineering support for world-wide DoD real property and asset management programs, worldwide environmental services supporting numerous federal agencies, multiple military construction and construction management tasks, and Implementation of ground-breaking real property exchange programs.

JMWA's ownership were part of the nation's leading small business owners and top entrepreneurs who were honored at the U.S. SBA's National Small Business Week events held May 23-25, in Washington, D.C. Entrepreneurs from across the country were honored for their accomplishments as the nation's leading small businesses. This event marked the 57th anniversary of the U.S. SBA and the 47th annual proclamation of National Small Business Week. They will also be taking part in the DC SBA Awards Luncheon being held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel.
