JMWA Donates 8,416 Pounds of Food to San Antonio Food Bank

The 2010 Engineering a Hunger Free Tomorrow Food and Funds Drive took place in the San Antonio office from October 08 through November 17, 2010. JMWA, along with partners Magi Real Estate Services and the Holiday Inn San Antonio International Airport donated 1,311.4 pounds of food and $1,015.00 to the San Antonio Food Bank at the culmination of the 2010 Food and Funds Drive. The $1,015 in funds collected during the event equates to an additional 7,105 pounds of food that can be purchased by the San Antonio Food Bank.

This is the second year of the Food and Funds drive, which collects food and monetary donations in an effort to help meet the needs of the San Antonio Food Bank for the upcoming holiday season. The 1,311.4 pounds of food collected shattered The Engineering a Hunger-Free Tomorrow event goal on 1,000 pounds by more than 31 percent. This represents an increase of more than 588 pounds from the 2009 drive.

"We are pleased to be able to provide support to our neighbors through the San Antonio Food Bank, especially leading up to this holiday season," said JMWA President and Chairman of the Board Charles W. Scott, RA, RID, PMP, REM, CFM. "The 8,416 pounds of food will make a significant impact for the food needy in the San Antonio area. I want to personally thank the donors for making this year’s food drive such an overwhelming success."

The 2010 Engineering a Hunger-Free Tomorrow Food and Funds is held in the 4th quarter of each year in order to collect food and funds prior to the holidays, one of the busiest times for the San Antonio Food Bank. Donation stations were set up at the main lobby of JMWA, Magi Real Estate Services San Antonio headquarters, and the main lobby of the Holiday Inn San Antonio International Airport location.

We would like to say thank you to everyone who participated this year’s Food and Funds Drive. Thanks to your generosity, for the second year in a row, we were able to surpass our lofty goals in pounds of food and amount of funds collected.
